- Am I the Only One Who Notices the Republican Lovefest with Vladimir Putin?
- Dear Vladimir Putin, With Much Love and Respect, Your Republican Admirers
In both articles I took aim at Republicans who seemed to be more than eager to bash our own president while seemingly going out of their way to heap praise on the Russian president.
To call this Republican praise of Putin “sickening” would be an understatement. Do they really hate President Obama so much that they’d praise a vile Russian president just to try to make Obama look bad? Obviously that’s a rhetorical question.
Well, co-host of Fox News’ The Five, Kimberly Guilfoyle, flat-out said on Tuesday that she wished we could have Russian President Vladimir Putin, or even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as our leader just so that we could finally get things “done right.”
Guilfoyle said, “Can I just make a special request in the magic lamp? Can we get like Netanyahu, or like Putin in for 48 hours, you know, head of the United States? I don’t know. I just want somebody to get in here and get it done right so that Americans don’t have to worry and wake up in the morning fearful of a group that’s murderous and horrific like ISIS.”
Because I guess to her what’s going on in Ukraine and Gaza isn’t at all chaotic and bloody. They’re being done the “right” way, apparently.
And I’d like to point out that this is yet another Fox News personality claiming that President Obama isn’t doing anything to deal with ISIS – as we continue to launch airstrikes (that he ordered) against the terrorist group in the northern parts of Iraq.
I’d love for her, or any of these people, to actually say what she thinks the president should be doing. Because that’s something I’m seeing a lot from Republicans. They’re out there bashing the president for his handling of ISIS, yet not specifying a single thing he’s either doing wrong or that he should be doing differently.
Unless, of course, they’re saying he needs to send in tens of thousands of ground troops. Which I’ve really not heard many of them say outright, but that’s about the only other “option” he has at this point. An option that the president is clearly trying to avoid at all costs.
But what Guilfoyle said is absolutely embarrassing. I get that some people don’t like President Obama, but for anyone to suggest that they’d rather see Vladimir Putin leading this nation, even for 48 hours, is absurd and embarrassing.
I wish I could say that her comments surprised me, but they didn’t. It’s the same right-wing, anti-Obama propaganda Fox News has been pushing since 2008.
