42 Statements Made By Ted Cruz Were Fact-Checked – The Only One That Was True Was About Toilets

ted-cruz-stinksIn case you haven’t heard, the annual CPAC conference is currently taking place. That means the Internet is sure to be inundated with some of the most ridiculous nonsense you’ve ever heard spewing from the mouths of those who are speaking at this event. Nothing brings out true idiocy quite like a bunch of Republicans getting together at a right-wing conference to give speeches aimed at pandering to some of the most ultra-conservative Americans in this country.

When some of the featured speakers at an event are Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and Donald Trump – you can rest assured that stupidity will be flowing in abundance.

Well, one of my favorite fact-checking sites, Politifact, decided to promote the files they’ve put together for every speaker featured at this CPAC event, including the aforementioned Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

As most people are well aware, Cruz is possibly the most absurd member of our Congress. It has been clear since the very beginning that Cruz has had no intention of actually governing while serving as a U.S. Senator. He has essentially used his time as a senator to set up his glaringly obvious intention to run for president in 2016. Nearly everything that comes out of his mouth is nothing more than some sort of drivel he believes that ultra right-wing conservative voters want to hear, because he’s well aware that those are the most consistent voters during primary season.

Though let me be perfectly clear here, I don’t believe Cruz stands any chance at ever becoming president. He’s not even going to come close to winning the GOP nomination.

But when Politifact decided to highlight the profiles of these various speakers, it reminded me of just how dishonest Cruz really is. He has been a U.S. Senator for just over two years and in that time Politifact has only deemed one of his 42 statements they’ve investigated to be “True.”

One.

And what was this one statement concerning? It was about toilet seats and the government regulations pertaining to businesses having to provide access to restrooms for workers and height requirements for public restrooms to accommodate people with disabilities. So, yes, Cruz was correct when he said that the government does regulate toilet seats.

So, his lone “True” statement was actually just him complaining about sensible regulations pertaining to disability access to public restrooms, and businesses being required to provide access to toilets for their workers.

As they say, the stupid – it burns.

Aside from his one “True” statement pertaining to toilets, 65 percent of his statements they’ve investigated have been deemed “Mostly False,” “False,” or “Pants on Fire.”

That means the vast majority of the statements that come out of his mouth are either misleading or flat-out lies.

There’s no two ways about it, Cruz has an absolutely horrendous record when it comes to being honest. Though I’m sure that this information comes as a surprise to absolutely no one who’s followed the Texas senator since he was elected back in 2012. Cruz, more so than the average politician (which is saying something), has built an entire political career based on tea party talking points and blatant lies.

What makes it even more disturbing is that he knows what he says are lies. I’m not sure you can’t even call it pandering? Also there is no reason that a freshman member of the Senate or Congress’ salary should be anywhere near the current scale, then add committee pay, just not fair.

    • Travis Russell

You are being lied to, manipulated and conned…Want to know where the real liars are? Start with the White House…

    • PoqVaUSA

Matthew Noffsinger: Are you saying that Obama wasn’t qualified for office because he was only a freshman Senator from Illinois? He has shown himself to be quite capable of bringing down this once great nation all the same. I think Ted Cruz will prove to be quite able to undo the “fundamental change” that Obama has wrought during his time in office.

    • Lisa

No, it’s not pandering. He has an obsession with Donald Trump and he outright lies, twisting what Donald says into what he wishes Donald said so he projects that on he audience and takes us all for stupid.

Liberals do help the poor. Republican voters leave their trailers, with food stamp card in pocket, gun (worth as much as the trailer and pickup combined), Klan robe in the trunk, and unread/poorly understood Bible in hand, every other November to vote away their own dreams in hopes that nonwhites will lose food stamps.

      • Tony Rogers

Liberals do NOT help the poor. Fewer regulations on businesses and lower taxes across the board would mean more FREEDOM for EVERYBODY. That would mean more jobs. Your logic needs to be less emotion more real. Come to Realville. You will be glad you did.

      • Follow @offensivedialog

Please explain to me how less regulation and lower taxes mean more jobs. Regulators are laid off. Corporate compliance staff is laid for. Fewer accountants and auditing staff are needed. Lower taxes mean deductions, including employment deductions/credits are less effective. Lower tax revenue means on top of regulatory staff, other government personnel will be laid off.

Conservatives breed poverty. Please take some economic classes.

      • Tony Rogers

Sorry for the delayed response…I have been in the hospital…
Less regulation and lower taxes mean more jobs because both result in more working capital. More working capital in the hands of private entities means more work. It is not complicated unless you are just trying to justify bigger government. More taxes on any activity result in less of that activity. Less taxes on any activity result in more of that activity. Wealth is not generated from government. Wealth is generated from private commerce. Then government takes it from the private sector. The less money the government takes from the private sector, the more money the private sector to produce more wealth. This is not rocket science. It’s freedom…it’s why this country was started…to escape the oppression of big governments in Europe. This is a matter of historical fact.

      • Follow @offensivedialog

Just so that I understand completely. Because a company has working capital (current assets minus current liabilities and nothing else — the bills are paid with a little extra left), they’re going to take that money and automatically hire people with it. They’re not going to save it. Remember, the cash portion is also included in the EBIT or operational profit, so it’s not going to any tax haven — hiring must be done.

The money is available, so companies will naturally create work so others may benefit.

      • Tony Rogers

or maybe give their employees raises? or give it to charity? or whatever they want to do with it because it’s THEIR MONEY?

      • Follow @offensivedialog

It’s not their money. They didn’t print it. It doesn’t have their name on it. They don’t create the value or demand for it. They aren’t involved in the production that creates wealth. The decision makers sit on their lazy asses having over priced lunches and nothing else.

It’s part of the economic structure. If they choose to be selfish with it, then it should be either taxed into oblivion or devaluated through mass printing.

      • Tony Rogers

so…it’s not their money? In your understanding, do you own anything? or does it all belong to the government?

You are partially right, however almost all regulations were written because of a problem, not to make “big government as conservatives like to label. They were made to stop rivers from burning in Chicago, Acid rain in California, to protect individual public interest , and monopolies from forming, and the country from being an oligarchy plus many other pitfalls of greed. Regulations are very necessary leash on capitalism. I am all for Capitalism but we the people have to be protected and the Government is the only one who can do it. period. As far as Taxes, sure it cost more to do the right thing in a lot of cases. The debate is who pays how much. Patriotic is paying your fair share for all the things you take for granted in this great country. Freedom is not free . If your a billionaire and you are trying to hide money to avoid taxes, taxes that are providing the freedom and infrastructure that you are benefiting from, you are wrong and unpatriotic! Tax rates during Bill Clinton years worked pretty well which is the one Obma has pushed. Which is slighly higher on top and lower middle class on down. Obamas 2012 tax bill that passed made middle-class taxes are at historically low levels with the
typical middle-income family paying lower federal income taxes than in
almost any other period in the last 60 years. He also signed into law a series of tax cuts for small businesses. Conservatives do not even acknowledge this fact! He has proposed a plan to lessen the tax burden even more on the middle class but Republicans block because it closes loopholes that only the wealthiest and big corporations get. Follow the money! This is the real reason Big corporations and billionaires support money in politics and are stopping real campaign finance reform. The real reason they own conservative media and many rural radio stations spewing ilk and political propaganda.

      • CCA of South

bury your head in the said Holly! Are we better off today than we were 8 years ago? All facts point to a “Hell Yea!”

Holly, Christopher, I hate to shatter your laughingly inaccurate stereotype of Democrats. But, I for example, am 63 years old and have been working since I was 15. I was born and raised in Alabama, I have never collected any form of welfare nor even unemployment. I served in the military honorably. This simplification of what we all believe politically is some of what is separating us as Americans. It is divisive and hateful. I choose to believe you are a good person that has simply gotten caught up in the rhetoric that passes for political conversation now days. If you meant to be funny, you weren’t. If you just want to demean and devalue you did. However, you might want to try meaningful dialogue if you want to get a point across.

Incidentally, even if Obama was born in Kenya (he wasn’t), he too would still be a US citizen birth and eligible to be president.

      • Lisa

You don’t really know that. His records are sealed, like Obama’s were until well after the election. I’ve heard his mother claimed Canadian citizenship at the time of his birtht. They say they did obcare to help the 30 million of uninsured , They forgot to tell you 12 million more lost insurance that they liked because Obama lied and said you could keep your ins, Dr, etc. so now 42 million were without insurance and the 7 mil they say joined are really only the ones that get it free. so now we have 35 million without insurance. I could go on and on. But it really doesn’t matter. The progressive left citizens refuse to open their eyes that if we get another rich, socialist, dictator who thinks they are above the law like Hillary or Obama 3rd term our country will become third world. everyone poor, with no dreams, except to not be beheaded if they say something against the Imperial community organizer. ps I don’t fact check because it is run by the left .

She received, stored and sent CLASSIFIED material on that server of hers. Then she didn’t turn over the server to the FBI without wiping it clean first.

Maybe the NSA should check the Russian and Chinese records to find Hillary’s emails. With her lack of security for CLASSIFIED material, surely the emails are not lost altogether.
